Atomos Adds NDI® Module for Ninja V 4Kp60 Monitor/Recorder
September 21, 2018 by Chuck Baker
Atomos has released their latest highly portable recording unit, the 5-inch Ninja V 4Kp60 HDMI/SDI HDR monitor/recorder. For video production, Ninja V offers connectivity with a wide range of cameras including the new mirrorless DSLRs. Ninja V can eliminate a camera’s internal compression and time limits – it can record up to 4Kp60 10-bit HDR video direct from a camera’s sensor over HDMI 2.0, and offers storage add-in options of up to 150 Tb. For gaming, Ninja V is a stand-alone system for 4k UHD, HDR and high frame rate capture that eliminates expensive, complicated and unreliable PC setups.
In addition to the release of Ninja V itself, two expansion modules for the unit’s AtomX expansion port are now available. One module provides NewTek NDI® connectivity and one provides wireless timecode, sync and Bluetooth control. The AtomX Ethernet/NDI module ($199), built in collaboration with NewTek, sports a Gigabit Ethernet connector that allows live broadcast-quality video to be delivered over IP networks using the NDI protocol. Ninja V users can use it to transmit or receive video from any NDI source on the network. The module is plug-and-play, with NDI’s auto-discovery of available NDI sources.
NewTek’s royalty free NDI is the leading IP video production standard, integrated into thousands of products in the hands of millions of users. NDI provides bi-directional transport of video, audio and data at very high quality with very low latency on standard Ethernet networks.
